Steven's official birth day fun!

October 27, 2011- Steven is officially 6 years old today!

When I woke up at 7am this morning I headed down the upstairs hallway to Steven's room prepared to sing him "Happy Birthday" but the little stinker was already out of bed playing with all of his new Legos downstairs in the toy room.  When I found him I sang to him and then sent him upstairs to brush his teeth and get dressed so he would be ready to leave when we needed to go.

When we were both ready we headed to my work (no school Wednesday- Friday this week) got Henry dressed as Batman for preschool (they were having his Halloween party today) and convinced Will and his friend Dylan who slept over the night before to join us for a special birthday breakfast.  We dropped Henry off at his preschool class and then headed to Monty's Blue Plate Diner for breakfast, Steven ate 3 scrambled eggs and drank a glass of orange juice.

That's one happy birthday boy!

After eating breakfast we had some extra time before we had to drop off Dylan and Will at Dylan's house and pick up Henry.  We decided that we would collect all the pennies from the change holder in my car and then stop at Olbrich Gardens to throw pennies in the streams and waterfall and make wishes.

The boys, especially Steven had a lot of fun making their wishes.  Also, since the weather has been pretty chilly lately it was nice to be in such a warm tropical building for a quick break from reality.

I snapped a few quick pictures of some of the beautiful plants.

After our short visit to Olbrich Gardens we headed back to town to drop Will and Dylan off to play at Dylan’s house (these two boy have been inseparable for the last few days).  Steven and I headed back to pick Henry up from preschool, (convinced him to take part of his batman costume off) and headed to the Children’s museum.  The new Children’s Museum is awesome!  We have probably already been there more than two dozen times but it just never gets old- I have a feeling that Henry and I will be spending a lot of time there this winter when I’m too fat to do anything.

We stayed for a few hours, and Steven and Henry had a blast!

Turning the wheel to make the cow jump over the moon :)

We made little pine cone super heroes... Henry and I made "Super Cone" and Steven made "Terrific Super Cone"

Then Steven made a chair for his "Terrific Super Cone"

While Henry was busy painting the windows, I painted Steven a special birthday message!

Luke was going to try to stop over and give the birthday boy a big birthday kiss but he just couldn’t get away, since we were only a couple buildings next door when we were done playing and exploring at the museum we took a short walk up to Luke’s office for a quick visit.  Steven was so happy to see Daddy, as soon as he saw him he yelled “Daddy” and went running to him arms open wide... the office secretary was close by and she said it was the cutest thing she had seen in a really long time.

Steven gave Luke his "Terrific Super Cone" and the chair he made to keep in his office at work.

After leaving Luke’s office we headed to Culver’s to pick up lunch, another one of Steven’s favorite places to have lunch.  I would have preferred to go in and eat but I could tell that the boys were getting tired and we still had one more very important thing on Steven's birth day agenda...

Once we got our food we drove to Marshall to go to “Steven’s Rocks and Gifts” to buy some birthday treasure.  We have only been to this store a few times since we have lived in Marshall but Steven just loves it- and I have to agree that it is a pretty neat little place to visit, the guy has quite a collection.  Steven asks us almost everyday if we can go there to look around but unfortunately it’s usually closed- the owner has odd hours.  Last night on our way home we made a special stop to see what time he was open today to ensure that we could go there... a high priority on Steven’s list of things to do on his birthday.

Steven had a difficult time deciding what birthday treasures to get, but he finally concluded that he would get 1 small shark tooth, one special rock, and one enormous shark tooth, and the owner threw in two “magic” rocks for him as a special birthday gift.  Henry also picked out a small shark tooth, a special rock and a seashell!

Both the boys were falling asleep in the car on the way back to Henry’s house, so as soon as we got home they headed up to bed for a short nap and I used the time to recover from a headache and to start uploading photos to my blog (it's a lot of work to get all of these photos on here but I know you enjoy looking at them so its worth it).

When Steven and I arrived home from (my) work, Luke was almost finished making tacos for dinner (as requested by the birthday boy) we sat down to eat dinner and enjoyed a special treat of watching "The Great Pumpkin".  When we were all finished eating it was finally time for Steven to open his birthday gifts!! Poor kid has been waiting since the weekend to open these.

LEGOS LEGOS LEGOS!!!

Steven really wanted to put ALL of his new Lego sets together as soon as he had opened everything- Luke helped him put a few together but suggested he save some of them for another day so that he had something to look forward to.  He decided to have a dairy free ice cream sandwich for his birthday dessert (I think we are all caked out) and then headed to bed to end his official birth day.  He said that he had a really good day, and that made me really happy!

What a fun day!
Now Luke and I are both ready for bed.
